A Reporter

Shillong: Taking up the issue of ‘influx of non-tribals in Jaintia Hills especially in East Jaintia Hills district, the United Hynniewtrep Movement (UHM) approached the Chief Executive Member (CEM) Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Thombor Shiwat seeking his intervention on the issue of trading license and labour license.

The memorandum was submitted to the CEM JHADC by president of UHM, Jaintia Hills district, Yoomeki Kyndait along with members and other leaders of the organization.

The memorandum states that the inflow of non-tribal into Jaintia Hills has increased because of trading and labour licenses being issued by the council without proper screening of individuals attaining the license.

The president of UHM Yoomeki Kyndait stated that the inflow on non-tribal into Jaintia hills has greatly affected the employment opportunities of the local youths in the region who are highly qualified to take on any job.
