International Workshop cum Seminar held at Shillong

SHILLONG: The “International Workshop cum Seminar on Judo” was held from November 14 to 16 in collaboration with the Office of Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, at Laban Sports Club Indoor Hall, Shillong.

On the final day of the seminar Kyohei Yamamoto, Researcher/Adviser (Economics), Embassy of Japan and Sansei Banee Brata Das, General Secretary, All Assam Judo Association were present along with Officials of Meghalaya Judo Association.

Chief guest Allantry F Dkhar, Political Secretary and Adviser to the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of Judo the only martial arts form playing in the Olympic Games since 1964 and 1984 for men and women respectively and how it can be used more than sports in the form of self defense techniques.

The Workshop on Judo brought Judokas (Judo Player) and enthusiasts from Assam and SAI STC Shillong along with other Martial Arts Artists in their attempt to promote, develop and popularize Judo the only martial arts form being played in the Olympic since 1964 and 1984 for both men and women respectively.

Expert from Japan Sensei Hiroyuki Mizuno, KODOKAN Judo 8th Dan, IJF Continental Referee the resource person, Saundarjya Prasad Chaliha Gold Medalist in the recently Commonwealth Judo Championship held this month in Jaipur were present at the seminar.

Amit Vishwakarma, SAI Judo Coach showed their talents and skills to the young enthusiast in judo.

This is also one of the preparatory grounds for National Games 2022.

Judokas from Meghalaya and SAI STC Shillong showed their skill and talents in Judo along with Sensei from Japan at the Closing Ceremony of Cherry Blossom Festival 2018.
