Jaiaw takes Resolution Adopted  on Land, Language Issues

SHILLONG: The 1st General Council of the Hills State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) East Khasi Hills Branch which was held on Thursday at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw has taken a resolution on land, language, customs and tradition of the indigenous people to be taken up by the party. This was informed by Martle N Mukhim former Minister and president of the district committee while speaking to reporters after the general council meeting. “These are the most important agenda of the party and we need to safeguard and protect the alienation of land in our district and the state as a whole,” he said.

He also pointed out that the objective of the general council is to strengthen the party in the entire district.

“Now we have newly appointed leaders in the district executive committee, district women’s wing, and district youth wing,” he said. When asked, on the perpetration of the party and its prospect in the MDC election slated for next year, Mukhim said, “We will contest the election with full force and with a positive attitude to win as many seats as possible.” Recollecting the previous MDC election, he said in the last election the party had won only 7 seats, however, this time around the party is expecting to win more than 10 seats in the MDC election.
