Journalists' pension plan coming soon: Conrad

He claimed that each form of media, including print, electronic, and various social media platforms, has its own slab.

SHILLONG: Conrad K. Sangma, the chief minister, stated on Tuesday that the state administration has already decided to implement the Journalist Pension Scheme.

"We shall shortly come up with this idea," Sangma said while reacting to a debate on the governor's address on the second day of the budget session here on Tuesday.

With reference to the advertisement policy, the chief minister stated that because previous payments used to be done departmentally, each department was required to submit separate invoices to various agencies.

"But, we have now combined everything and placed it under DIPR." They are aware that we released the rules for advertising and that the rates have been set, he added.

He claimed that each form of media, including print, electronic, and various social media platforms, has its own slab.

Earlier, VPP legislator Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit asked the state government to give this department priority because it handles all of the government's publicity efforts while taking part in the general discussion on the governor's address.

In addition, he asked the government to ensure the timely payment of media houses' advertising expenses and to begin implementing the previously announced Journalist Pension Program.

According to Conrad, the MDA Government faced its biggest "Agnipariksha" during the Assembly elections and passed with flying colors.

In response to a brief discussion on the criticism that Meghalaya was the nation's most corrupt state, made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the CM stated that the 2023 elections would be a litmus test for his administration and that public support for the various MDA components would be the best indicator of the government's success.

He said that now that the elections were over and the results were in, it was time for everyone to come together and work as a team to fulfill the ambitions of the people.

The CM extolled the virtues of the MDA Government's accomplishments during the previous five years, declaring that "Meghalaya is one of the best performing states when it comes to implementation of major programs of the federal government, such as the Jal Jeevan Mission and others.”
