KHADC Leaders Meet Union Minister Of State For Minorities Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

SHILLONG: KHADC Deputy CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Executive Member (EM) in-charge Land Titoswell Chyne on Monday met Union Minister of State for Minorities Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in New Delhi and sought his intervention on the memorandum submitted by them to the 15th Finance Commission headed by Nand Kishore Singh, seeking Rs 1,544.34 crore as financial support from the Centre for enabling the Council to improve its administration set-up and taking up developmental activities.

The two leaders also has plans to meet with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss on the needs of the district council and to urge the minister to sanction the financial aid placed before the 15th Finance Commission.

Earlier, on June 7, Pyniaid and Titoswell Chyne sought the intervention of Union Minister of State in-charge Animal Husbandry, Pratab Chandra Sarangi in New Delhi. In the memorandum submitted to Pratab Chandra Sarangi, the KHADC leaders while congratulating Pratab Chandra Sarangi on his assumption of office said, “We hope that it will be a great boon for the welfare of the tribal people of Meghalaya in general and the Khasis in particular.”

Pyniaid also highlighted the aims and objectives of the present Executive Committee for the all-round development of areas under the Council’s jurisdiction.

He also informed the Union Minister that the concept paper was presented before the 15th Finance Commission during its visit to the State. The financial requirement of the council work out to be Rs 1,544.34 crore.
