SHILLONG: The newly constituted 'Ki Sur Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep' -- a conglomeration of people's voices from across the Khasi and the Jaintia Hills -- has demanded that discussion should be allowed to be held on the last day of the Autumn session pertaining to the need to suspend three police officer involved in the raid on August 13, which ultimately lead to the killing of former HNLC leader Cheristarfield Thangkhiew.

They also submitted a memorandum at the office of Meghalaya Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh concerning their demands. Marbud Dkhar, secretary of Ki Sur Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep' said, "The Speaker didn't allow to have the discussion on Wednesday pertaining to the need of temporary suspension of the three cops who lead the operation by saying that the matter is subjudice hence it can't be allowed."

He said their is a need to suspend the police officers as it will lead to a fair and transparent investigation.

They also pointed out that assurances have been made by MLAs from different regional party in the MDA government to speak out at the ongoing Autumn session concerning their demand but this didnt happen but only the Congress and lone KHNAM MLA Adelbert Nongrum stuck to their promises.
