Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) branch raps BSF over infiltration

SHILLONG: The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU), War Jaintia Circle, on Friday accused the BSF of being mere spectators while Bangladeshis enter the country unhindered.

The president of the KSU, War Jaintia Circle, Laitphar Syngkrem alleged that on February 5, the BSF did not do anything when six Bangladeshis entered into Meghalaya.

Syngkrem said that it was the bold action taken by the residents of Bakur village in Dawki that prevented the “illegals” from entering the State even as they were handed over to the police.

“One person from Assam by the name of Suman Baishnab facilitated the entry of these persons and he was trying to take them to Lad Rymbai,” the KSU said during a press conference. The KSU circle president also said that a few days ago, one person from Nongtalang village went missing from his home and he was later found with cut wounds all over his body even as Syngkrem alleged that this was the handiwork of Bangladeshis.

Meanwhile, concerned over this issue, the KSU, War Jaintia Circle met Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Eastern Range MK Dkhar.

The students’ body wanted the police department to deploy additional forces in the area to protect the border residents. Quoting, the DIG, the KSU leader said that he will meet the BSF authorities and take up the issue with them.
