Lumthari Coal Mine Tragedy: Loved ones coming alive is unlikely; Kin’s reconciliation starts

Shillong: The multiple agencies involved in trying to rescue the 15 trapped miners at Ksan (Lumthari) in East Jiantia Hills district continues amidst the reconciliation of certain family members that their kins return in life form is unlikely. The Navy, NDRF, Oddisha fire service, state police and Coal India personnel all are involved in the rescuing mission to save the 15 trapped miners in the 300 feet deep mines.

Nearly three weeks have passed with no valuable results. There was a glitch in one of the high power pumps that was put into operation to de-water the mine. At 1.20pm the fire service Odisha are able to install their pump in another old shaft situated at the downhill near the main shaft.

The team Kirloskar at present prepared their submersible pump to be insert inside the main shaft soon after. At 5.10 pm, the fire service odhisa stopped their pumps and the water level reduced only to 6 inches and on Thursday the water level reduces only to 13 inches. The coal Indian limited continues its preparation so that their submersible pump can be made functional at the earliest.
