SHILLONG: A few days after PN Syiem founding member and Chairman of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) had resigned from the party, its President Ivanlumlang Marbaniang has accused the former leader of demanding the removal of the president and general secretary A Lyngdoh.

It may be mentioned that Syiem in his resignation letter has cited that he made the decision to quit the party because he was being side-lined by the party on many issues.

“Since he has demanded for my removal and the general secretary for no apparent reason we decided to forward the matter to the four MLAs of the party to examine his demand, however even after the report on the demand was completed there was no reason to remove us as the party is still gaining strength day by day,” Marbaniang said.

He also pointed that the accusation made by Syiem that the party had side-line him on a number of issues is completely false as he was also informed about any issue take up by the party and all the party members respects him.

When asked, if the party will continue with having the post of chairman, he said at the moment the party is not planning to continue with the post of chairman as the party already have a president.

“The party despite Syiem’s resignation will have no effect on the party however it will only make the party grow stronger especially as the district council polls is approaching in a months’ time,” he said.

The party with an objective to further strengthen its prospects in the upcoming polls have also decided to start the functioning of district committees in January. The party has also named two vice president of PDF which includes MDC James Ban Basaiawmoit and MLA Jason Mawlong, working president Bantiedor Lyngdoh and Hamlet Dohling both are cabinet ministers.
