SHILLONG: The Opposition Congress on Wednesday termed the present Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government a “chalta hai” government which has led to the tense situation in Shillong.

Addressing newsmen in Shillong on Wednesday, the Congress leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma blamed the ruling front for the present situation in Shillong and it’s suburbs. Even as he called upon the stakeholders to come together to usher peace in the city, the leader of the Opposition hit hard at the present dispensation for “maculation and it’s incapability” to deal with the situation.

“The Chief Minister gets all the DSI every day. This should have been taken into consideration and acted upon appropriately”, stated Mukul Sangma even he lashed at the present government of being involved in the alleged confusion in Shillong city.

He also criticized the Internet shutdown.

Moreover, the Congress leader demanded an independent inquiry into the Itchamati and Shillong incidents that have left four districts of the State on the edge. Shillong passed off without any untoward incident while night curfew continues to be in place. Internet services continue to be suspended.
