SHILLONG: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma on Thursday assured that the 2025 Autumn Session of the Assembly will be held at the new Assembly building in Mawdiangdiang. Providing an update on the construction progress, Sangma stated that "over 90 percent of the physical work has been completed, and the rest is expected to be complete very soon."

Emphasizing safety as his top priority, he asserted, "I don't want to rush. As the Speaker and head of the Legislative Assembly, it is my duty to ensure the safety of each and every member. We had an earlier instance where the safety of the building was compromised, but this time, we are not taking any chances. Better late than never."

Sangma reaffirmed his commitment, adding, "If not the Budget Session, then the Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held in the new Assembly building."
