SHILLONG: The Meghalaya BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) led by the State unit president held a protest on the alleged atrocities of the TMC (Trinamool Congress) in West Bengal. Terming the perpetrators of violence as ''Gundas'', the Meghalaya State BJP president Ernest Mawrie stated, ''We express solidarity with the families of BJP in West Bengal. We also strongly demand that President's Rule should be immediately imposed in that State so as to bring the law-and-order situation under control and protect the people from the brutal dictatorship of the present dispensation."

He added, ''We have also expressed our shock at the complete absence of other political parties in raising their voice against the atrocities in West Bengal. These parties, who took to the streets at the drop of a hat in States that are governed by the BJP, are maintaining a sinister silence. It seems like they support the brutal and inhuman treatment being met out to the BJP workers in West Bengal.

''We condemn the action (or inaction) of the TMC government and the silence of other political parties in the strongest words. President's Rule is the only way of saving Indians in West Bengal.
