SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday flagged off three bio-medical waste disposal vans in presence of Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling from Meghalaya Secretariat.

The three vehicles purchased from Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) has been allocated for use at Shillong, Tura and Jowai. Dedicating the vehicle for the State, the Chief Minister thanked all the contributors towards CMRF and said that the three bio-medical disposal unit will prove to be of immense benefit during the COVID times. The bio-medical waste vans will be used exclusively for the collection and disposal of bio medical waste from hospitals and clinics. In view of the COVID-19 situation, the vans are equipped with a wash basin and a collection tank for the waste water which will be emptied at the treatment plant.
