TURA: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, held a review meeting with the officials of Urban Affairs, Tourism, Medical, PWD, Sports and Tura Municipal Board in the presence of North Tura MLA, Thomas A Sangma, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh and Chairman and the CEO of Tura Municipal Board, JD Sangma and Rezia Ch Sangma respectively, at Tura Circuit House on Tuesday.

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister informed that beautification of Tura is a Rs 13 crores project which included 6 locations in and around Tura for which no objection certificates are yet to be obtained from the PWD and the Urban Affairs department but the work will start from June 2.

While reviewing the construction of Tura Medical College, the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Dr MR Sangma informed that work is going on and the estimates for power and water supplies had been submitted to the Planning Department. He also informed that the construction of the medical college is expected to be completed by October 2022.

The officials of the Tura Municipal Board highlighted the status of construction of the board's building at Tura Najing Bazar for which the Central government has already released the money and informed that the proposal for garbage dumping site had been submitted to the Urban Affairs department.

While reviewing the minor infrastructure projects of tourism, the Chief Minister suggested the renovation of the entrance to Chibragre Tourist Spot.

Stressing on the need to involve the citizens in the celebrations of Meghalaya Day on January 21, the Chief Minister suggested to the district administration to urge the households in Tura to renovate their boundary walls, houses by painting, cleaning localities, rivers, streams, etc. and to organize painting competitions before the Christmas. He also suggested street lighting and mechanized cleaning of Tura to the officials of Tura Municipal Board, stated a release.
