Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma Highlights Importance of Education

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday stressed the importance of education while stating that the state government is taking up the issues pertaining to the education system as top priority.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of a Post Graduate Building of Synod College, Shillong which was attended by Home Minister James Sangma, C&RD Minister Sengewbhalang Dhar, Dr. D Wanswett Principal of the college, faculty members, students beside others. “With every chance we get the government is trying to push education in the state to the next level. Education is not a very simple sector but it’s a complicated one and in the past many years since Meghalaya has attained statehood the education department had faced a number of challenges and problems,” Sangma said.

In this connection, the Chief Minister said that the government has encountered difficulty t ensure that the education system in the state moves up but education in the state have moved up however with the support of various stakeholders along with the government it will ensure that education will surpass new heights in Shillong and across the state.

“Unless and until we improve the education system we will not be able to move our society and state forward as education is the axis of change,” he said.

Sangma also pointed out that the students of Synod College are very fortunate to be studying in one of the reputed instituted in the state.

“I hope that Synod College will be producing many young dynamic and responsible citizen of our state,” he said.
