SHILLONG: Reacting to the Union Budget 2025-26 tabled in the Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma took to social media, writing, "Thank you to Hon'ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for a visionary budget that prioritises growth, innovation, and opportunities for our youth. With initiatives like the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, enhanced credit support for MSMEs, the modified UDAN scheme for better connectivity, and broadband access for schools, this budget will greatly benefit Meghalaya. We are committed to leveraging these opportunities to drive growth, create jobs, and work towards doubling our GSDP. Together, we're building a brighter future for our state and its people!"
Member of Parliament from Tura, Saleng A. Sangma, also reacted to the Union Budget, acknowledging its impact on Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party's Meghalaya unit hailed the budget, describing it as "historic" and a "blessing for the middle-income group." The party expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping in mind the interests of all sections of society, especially the middle class. "We hope that the growth engine of the economy will get a further boost due to this people-friendly budget," the party stated.
