SHILLONG: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) and the National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM), under the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, to enhance turmeric production in Meghalaya.

The partnership, formalized by Dr. Vijay Kumar D., IAS, Commissioner & Secretary & CEO of MBMA, and Dr. Sagar Hanuman Singh, Director General of NIPHM, aims to address gaps in the horticulture sector, particularly in plant health and sustainable agricultural practices. Through this collaboration, NIPHM will assist MBMA in aligning cultivation methods with the latest international standards, improving the quality of produce, and creating a stronger brand for Meghalaya’s turmeric.
