Meghalaya Congress Party Staged Protest at Police Bazar, Shillong

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Congress party on Saturday staged a protest at Police Bazar to express their displeasure over the style of functioning of the Central Government in headed by the BJP. The protest march stared from Congress Bhavan and culminated at Police Bazar. The Congress party members and leaders carrying banners and placards were shouting slogans like “No to CAB”, “Down Down BJP”, beside others.

Speaking to reporters, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Dr Celestine Lyngdoh said, “We will continue to oppose the style of functioning of the BJP in the Centre as it is dividing the nation.”

The State Congress leader stated that the Meghalaya government does not even have sufficient funds to sustain developmental activities in the State.

“There is a need for the government to take things seriously and ensure that the State of Meghalaya is moving forward and not backward,” he said.
