SHILLONG: The BJP-NPP spat in Meghalaya is in the open a day after Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong stated on Saturday that the BJP can leave the alliance if it is uncomfortable. President of BJP Meghalaya Pradesh Ernest Mawrie and State BJP vice president Bernard Marak, hit back by questioning the audacity of the senior partner. "The NPP cannot ask the BJP to leave the 'Meghalaya Democratic Alliance' (MDA) since the MDA exist because of the BJP. The MDA does not belong to NPP as the NPP is a coalition partner of the BJP in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).

Prestone Tynsong's statement asking the BJP to leave MDA is the most irresponsible statement given by the NPP against the BJP with sole intention to divert the corruption of NPP leaders, stated the BJP leader in his tirade. He said, "The NPP is a coalition partner of BJP in MDA; the NPP is not the "Boss" of MDA. So, the NPP dictating the BJP to leave is nothing more than a joke. The BJP will decide on the MDA; and if the NPP wants to indulge in corruption openly, they should decide whether they want to be in MDA or leave. The BJP will not submit to their corrupt tactics of looting the public. The people are fed up of rampant corruption in the State; and their faith on the MDA is fading because of the NPP as it avoids table talks," read the statement issued on Saturday.

The BJP leader further stated, "The NPP never gave any platform to discuss various issues including the GHADC scams, the Illegal coal transportation and others. They acted as if the BJP was nobody to them. That's the reason why the BJP made a decision to expose the corruption within its coalition partners. Without the BJP, the MDA cannot exist!"

"Prestone failed to understand that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance means 'Coalition with the BJP'; so the question is, 'Who is NPP to ask the BJP to leave? The BJP wanted 'Good Governance'; and is fed up of rampant corruption in the State. By no means, the BJP will compromise the looting of the public in the name of coalition," stated Marak. He added, "If the NPP needs the BJP only to get financial assistance from the Centre, the BJP will take it up at the highest level. And about the CBI, we are moving the Court. We will also file a case at the Lokayukta Court too against all the corrupt leaders and officials."

The NPP leader added, "Let Conrad Sangma make a public statement that the NPP does not need the BJP; and we will take up the matter seriously right from the grassroots to the Centre. The NPP has revealed it's true colour by asking the BJP to leave the MDA; when in reality, it is the NPP who might need to leave the MDA once their corruption is unveiled and that fear has made them oppose the inquiry from the CBI."
