SHILLONG: All the political party leaders within the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government will have a sit-in discussion concerning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and also discuss on the issue of the common candidate on Monday.

Sources from the MDA government have informed that the meeting of the coordination committee will discuss the matter on October 29.

Earlier, the UDP had sought the support for the common candidate proposed by the party itself from the MDA partners.

Leaders from different political parties at the coordination committee meeting will be able to express their views and opinions regarding the subject of the common candidate.

It may be mentioned that the UDP has already kick-started its preparation to contest the MP Election 2019 from Shillong Lok Sabha Seat by proposing two names - Dr Jemino Mawthoh and Paul Lyngdoh.

UDP has also requested the MDA partners to support its proposal for a common candidate from the party, which will also finalize the official candidate on 31st, October.

However, when contacted Dr WR Kharlukhi, State President NPP said that the party is yet to discuss the matter.

It may be mentioned that PDF in the past couple of days had stated that the issue of a common candidate should be taken up at the coordination committee meeting before any decision is taken on the matter.
