Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong Launches PM-SYM In State

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has said that the Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) pension scheme will provide the much needed financial security to unorganized sector workers. He also urged the people to come forward and avail the benefits that the Central Government is providing.

Tynsong was speaking at the launch programme for the PM-SYM pension scheme on Tuesday at Yojana Bhavan Auditorium, Shillong.

It may be mentioned here that PM-SYM is a pension scheme for the unorganized workers such as maids, helpers, labourers, hawkers and small shop owners whose monthly income is Rs 15,000 or less.

To avail the scheme, the beneficiary has to be in the age group of 18-40 years.

For enrolment, they have to visit a Common Service Centre (CSC) along with their Aadhaar Card and savings bank account number. After verification, the computer will calculate the exact monthly contribution (Rs 55 to Rs 200).

During the enrolment process, they have to make the first contribution by cash and sign the computer generated auto debit mandate form following which they will be provided the Shram Yogi Pension Card.

The entire enrolment process takes 3 to 5 minutes.

During the programme, the Deputy Chief Minister along with other dignitaries distributed beneficiary cards to the beneficiaries.
