Meghalaya DGP expresses concern over deferment of salary for police staff

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya's director general of police (DGP) R Chandranathan has written a letter to additional chief secretary (finance), RV Suchiang expressing concern over deferment of salary for police staff.

“The strenuous efforts and the resolute duties that have been discharged by the officials of the department have been acknowledged by all spheres of the society, and this has encouraged our officers and men to continue performing with passion and zeal,” the letter said.

“However, the spirit of the police officials has been inhibited, on receiving the information that their salary has been deferred for two months,” the DGP stated in a letter.

Police staff have expressed their disappointment at the news. claim reports.

Meanwhile, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Assam State Committee urged the State government to take effective initiatives to help the daily wage earners and labourers during the lockdown period, on Tuesday. CITU, Assam State Committee has sent a letter to the Chief Minister asking to ensure that all the employees and labourers working in different sectors get their full salary for the time period of March 24 to May 3. In the letter, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions mentioned that though the government is helping the needy, the organization feels that there’s a lot more to do to get effective results. Hence, the organization raised several issues by appealing the government to follow the necessary actions to resolve the same.
