Meghalaya: Drug Peddlers Arrested at Umsning

SHILLONG: Acting on a tip-off, Ri-Bhoi police intercepted a major drug trafficking attempt and arrested three individuals in possession of suspected heroin during a late-night operation at Umsning. The operation, carried out by a team of Ri-Bhoi DEF, targeted a Maruti Baleno (ML-05 AB-9902) travelling from Nongpoh towards Shillong. The vehicle was intercepted at Nongthymmai junction along NH-06. “On searching the vehicle and its occupants, approximately 10.9 grams of suspected heroin were recovered,” a police official confirmed. The arrested individuals have been identified as Wellborn Khongjoh, alias Bull, of Kynjoin Umran; Fedrick Kharkrang; and Pascal Kharkrang, both residents of Shangbangla in Ri-Bhoi district.
