Shillong: Meghalaya Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal has assured that the state's power situation is currently stable, with no plans for load shedding. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply, particularly during the examination season, to avoid any disruption for students.
However, he noted that unexpected challenges, such as sudden increases in load on transformers, can arise, making it difficult to predict power demands at specific times.
Mondal clarified that power outages experienced in the state are primarily due to ongoing repair and renovation activities, as well as the implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
These initiatives aim to improve infrastructure by upgrading substations and transformers, which necessitate temporary shutdowns for maintenance and installation work.
He reassured consumers that such disruptions are not due to load shedding but part of efforts to enhance the power distribution network.
The minister requested patience from consumers during this period, acknowledging that there may be temporary power interruptions as the state maximizes repair and renovation efforts.
He reiterated that the government remains focused on maintaining a comfortable power scenario while addressing technical issues promptly. With these measures, the state aims to improve the reliability of its power infrastructure and minimize inconvenience to consumers in the long term.
