SHILLONG: Based on the test results of pig tissue samples, the Government of Meghalaya has declared the villages of Gindo Pig Farm in West Garo Hills, Masighat in South Garo Hills, Syllei U Lar, Madan, and Mawlyngkhung in Ri-Bhoi District, and Tiehsaw in Nongstoin as 'epicentres' of African Swine Fever disease, which was informed by the Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, AH and Veterinary Department.

The test was done on May 10, 2023, by the North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (NERDDL) in Guwahati, stated a press release.
