SHILLONG: With the Ministry of Civil Aviation deciding to resume air services from Monday, the Meghalaya government too is restoring flights from Umroi Airport. "We will soon start the Kolkata-Umroi-Kolkata flights by this week," Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed.

Earlier last week, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had said that there are lots of people who have expressed that they are willing to pay for the flight tickets to reach the State.

According to Sangma lots of airlines gave different prices and quotations for it and some quotations were very reasonable. The Chief Minister had said that the pricing was reasonable considering the social distancing factor where the seats would have to be reduced. He informed that the tickets are reasonably priced at Rs 7,000 to Rs 11, 000.

Meanwhile, the government is in a dilemma for people of the State who are stranded in States where they are only in a few numbers. The government has urged them to come on the own. "If you can arrange flight or train on their own please come but when they reach the entry points we will take care of everything else," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
