Meghalaya Governor Hosts Traditional Republic Day 'At Home' Reception in Shillong

SHILLONG: On the 76th Republic Day, Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, hosted the traditional "At Home" reception at Raj Bhavan in Shillong. The event was attended by dignitaries, officials, and respected citizens from different fields, coming together to celebrate national pride and unity.

Governor Vijayashankar gave awards to the winners of the Flower Show, which has become an important yearly event at Raj Bhavan. The celebration was made even more special with cultural performances from different states and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

The Governor thanked everyone who attended and participated in the Republic Day celebrations, acknowledging their contributions to their success. He underlined the significance of Republic Day as a reminder of the Constitution's eternal principles.

Meanwhile, Manipur celebrated the 76th Republic Day on January 26 with a grand parade at Kangla. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla led the event and took the salute. The parade had featured 86 groups, including police units, cultural performers, and floats from different government departments.

Eight Manipur police officers had received President’s medals for their service. Sorokhaibam Rudranarayan Singh had been honored with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, while Laishram Chaoba Singh, Naorem Seilendra Singh, Sorokhaibam Santosh Singh, Khaidem Chandra Singh, Lenpu Kom, Lamthianson Chongloi, and Athokpam Tej Singh had received the Medal for Meritorious Service.
