Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy Appreciates State’s Scenic Beauty

SHILLONG: Governor Tathagata Roy on Thursday visited West Khasi Hills district. “The dunes of West Khasi Hills are so beautiful and resembles the ones in Switzerland,” said Roy while appreciating the natural beauty and landscape of West Khasi Hills in particular and Meghalaya in general.

The Governor expressed his feelings while meeting the officials of the district administration at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, T. Lyngwa.

The Governor shared with the gathering his close association with the State especially Shillong which he visited during his childhood days.

Roy said that the objective of the visit is to get acquainted with the rich cultural tradition of the State. Seeing the tourism potential of the district, the Governor stressed upon the need to promote and develop rural tourism which can create employment opportunities.
