Guwahati: The Meghalaya Government on Sunday, August 16, decided to set up screening points at the Iewduh market and Police Bazaar from August 17.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma in Shillong.

The Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that the setting up of the screening points was essential to keep track of the COVID-19 positive cases.

Talking to the media, Dr. Warr said, "So far we have not been able to find out from where the tea vendor at Police Bazaar got the virus even after doing the contact tracing. During the meeting with the Chief Minister, we took a decision to set up the screening points at the Iewduh market and Police Bazaar."

Dr. Warr also informed that they will not be taking the samples from everyone who enters the Iewduh market or Police Bazaar.

"We will randomly collect the samples. It could be a shopkeeper or a customer. We will first take the samples for the antigen test. If there are people who test positive in the antigen test then we will take another sample for the RTPCR test to further confirm," DHS (MI) said.

He also informed that they will be doing random testing at Rilbong, Jhalupara, and other areas.
