SHILLONG: Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek's confidence was dented on the floor of the House when the issue of incinerators in three government hospitals in the State was raised.

During Question Hour, legislators raised questions on the preparedness in government hospitals which are also COVID centres. Here, the minister confidently stated that the incinerators are there. Before being cornered, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma rose and stated, "All the three hospitals have no incinerators and the process of procuring them for the government hospitals in Shillong, Tura and Jowai is on." The issue cropped up after a bulk of surgical masks were dumped haphazardly within the fringes of the hospital premises.
