Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek attends World Meet on Medical Products

Shillong: Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek attended the “2019 World Conference on Access to Medical Products - achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030” at New Delhi on Tuesday. The programme was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and World Health Organization (WHO) and was attended by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan as chief guest.

The conference focussed on the theme of universal health coverage and reliable access to medical products which are effective, safe, quality assured and affordable. Health Minister AL Hek met Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on the sidelines of the event .

Later in the day, Hek also met Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta Medicity Hospital, Gurgaon, NCR and discussed with him the “Meghalaya End TB Campaign” which is a CSR initiative of Medanta Medicity with the Government of Meghalaya. He discussed the way forward and date of launching of the initiative.

The proposal for empanelment of Medanta Medicity as a Super Speciality referral centre for the state as part of government employees’ reimbursement scheme was also discussed. Dr Trehan expressed his desire of providing employment opportunities also to nurses from the State of Meghalaya.
