Meghalaya Legal Services identifies 7,261 school dropouts during its campaign

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Legal Services (MLS) has identified 7,261 school dropouts during its campaign “Open Doors for Education to Children” launched in December 2019.

With the assistance of paralegal volunteers, cluster workers and other stakeholders, the MLS identified that of the 7,261 dropouts in the State, 2,449 are girls and 4,812 are boys.

The MLS which is involved in a campaign to bring back children to school will carry on with the third phase of enrolling them in nearby schools. The third phase aims to work in close coordination with the Department of Education for monitoring the children.
