Meghalaya MDA ministers lambast Congress duo

Staff Correspondent

Shillong: More MDA ministers in Meghalaya have joined the chorus in decrying Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma and Congress MP Vincent Pala on the alleged continuance of illegal coal trade in the State. The two Congress leaders have accused ministers of the present MDA dispensation of being facilitators in the alleged coal trade in spite of the ban by the NGT.

After Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s outright rebuttal of the allegations made by the Congress duo, senior minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Friday, “These hanky-panky statements will obviously come out from the desperate Opposition party.” “Come and point out those ministers or officials who are facilitating the illegal coal trade”, he stated besides adding, “Instead of playing the role of a constructive Opposition, they are hurling unsubstantiated allegations”.

Hamlet Dohling termed the allegations by the Congress MP and the LoP as a sweeping statement. “I have never been into the coal trade and to generalize every minister without naming them is uncalled for”, stated the Minister of Urban Affairs.
