Guwahati: A prisoner on Wednesday successfully managed to escape from Meghalaya's Jowai District Jail.

As per reports, the prisoner identified as Shiningstar Pala was convicted in a murder case.

In order to nab him, a police team has been formed and pressed into action.

Meanwhile, an inquiry has been ordered by Inspector General of Police, Mariahom Kharkrang to ascertain how the prisoner managed to escape from the jail.

Reports also claimed that Pala previously too tried to escape from the jail in May 2017, but Jowai police immediately got hold of him.

In January 2021, two other convicts escaped after they had been taken to Jowai Civil Hospital, Ialong.

The two Small Phawa who was convicted under POCSO Act and Kwall Laloo for murder are untraceable to date.
