SHILLONG: With the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections fast approaching, the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has launched its campaign efforts in Williamnagar with a decisive move. In a high-energy Block Meeting, the party unanimously announced Sengbath R. Marak as its official candidate for the 29-Williamnagar GHADC Constituency, marking a strong start to its electoral strategy.
The meeting underscored its political significance with the presence of Cabinet Minister and Williamnagar MLA Marcuise N. Marak, whose attendance reinforced the party’s commitment to retaining its stronghold. His involvement signals the seriousness with which the NPP is approaching the upcoming GHADC elections.
The resolution to nominate Sengbath R. Marak was formally proposed by NPP Block President Roson M. Sangma, seconded by Block Secretary Jerubell Ch. Marak, and endorsed by NPYF Block President Yesterbirth Sangma. This unanimous decision, backed by grassroots-level party members, reflects strong internal unity and vertical alignment from youth leadership to senior ranks.
The nomination will now be forwarded to the NPP’s High Command for final ratification. The early announcement is being viewed as a strategic move to gain electoral momentum and shape the narrative ahead of the GHADC elections.
