SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee gave its election manifesto to the voters of Meghalaya with promises pertaining to 14 key areas towards development in the state.

The election-related document was released in the presence of Jairam Ramesh (All India Congress Committee General Secretary), Manish Chatrath (All India Congress Committee in charge for Meghalaya), Vincent Pala (Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee) and Celestine Lyngdoh (manifesto committee chairman) alongside several senior party leaders.

The leaders mentioned that the 14-point manifesto aims at the upliftment of the state as well as solving the problems that the citizens had faced in the previous years.

The 14 key promises made by the Congress Party are as follows.

1. Your Health Is Our Wealth - Free Heath Care For All Citizens

The party has promised a welfare scheme to take care of all the health concerns in the state. They will launch a free health care scheme towards the benefit of all citizens.

2. A Girl Child Is A Gift From God - Free Education For Every Girl Child

The party has also promised to provide free education to the girls in the state governed mainly by matrical rules. In an attempt to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the girls and the state as a whole, they have promised free education from the Kindergarten level to the 12th standard.

3. Minimum Support Price For Farmers

The Congress party has also promised the setting a Minimum Support Price for several agricultural products of the state towards the benefit of the farmers. These products include ginger, turmeric, broomstick, and black pepper

4. Free Roof For Every BPL Household

Quality roofing materials have been promised for all families of the Below Poverty Line category on a phased manner.

5. Rs 500 Crore Corpur Funds For Building Infrastructure For Religious Gatherings

Places of religious interest in the state will receive money towards the betterment of infrastructure.

6. Our Children Our Future - Dedicated University For Market-Ready Courses

A dedicated State University with a focus on job-oriented and market-ready courses is also in the list of promises.

7. Special Urban Police Force

They have also promised the setting up of a Special Urban Police Force to deal with city-based crime scenarios.

8. Free Power For BPL Families

200 units of free electricity to each family falling under BPL criteria.

9. Free LPG Cylinder For BPL Families

Four free LPG cylinders annually to BPL families.

10. One Job For Every Household

Through the promotion of entrepreneurship in the state, the party promises to create ample job opportunities to give jobs to every household in the state.

11. Our Fourth Estate Our Pride - Pension For Journalists

The party has also promised pensions and other benefits to accredited journalists across the state of Meghalaya.

12. Dignity For Our Teachers - No More Delay In Salary

Another key promise of the party is to deliver all salaries in time and fulfil all the legitimate demands fo the teachers of the state.

13. Exclusive Women's Market

Creation and marketing of products by the women of the state with the tag "Proudly Made in Meghalaya".

14. Megha-Power

The party aims to add another 500MW power output using clean and green technologies and making the state self-sufficient in that direction.

The party has earlier announced a set of 5 commitments towards making a "five-star Meghalaya".
