Shillong: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee MPCC) has thanked the Congress MPs and other MPs who stood strongly against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, proposed to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha by the BJP Government on February 13. The MPCC termed the development as victory of the people of Meghalaya and the Northeast as a whole.
The MPCC said without the people’s support and NGOs of the Northeast, things might have been different. The party hoped that in the future the people as well as the NGOs would come forward in strength to defend any ulterior motives or intent to bring such kind of anti-people bill that would affect the interest of the indigenous people of the North-east.
