Meghalaya: President appoints four visitor’s nominees to NEHU executive council

The President of India has appointed four distinguished academicians as visitor’s nominees to the NEHU Executive Council for a three-year term.

SHILLONG: In a key move to strengthen the governance structure of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), the President of India, in her capacity as the Visitor of the university, has nominated four distinguished academicians to the Executive Council of NEHU for a term of three years with immediate effect.

In an official communication addressed to the Registrar, NEHU, the Ministry stated, “I am directed to refer to the subject mentioned above and to say that the Hon’ble President of India, in her capacity as the Visitor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), has been pleased to nominate the following persons as her nominees on the Executive Council of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) as per Statute 12(1)(ix) of the Statutes of the University for a term of three years with immediate effect.”

The nominees are Prof. (Retd) Etakula Vayunandan, Public Administration, School of Social Sciences, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi; Prof. Tana Showren, D/o History, Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh; Prof. Debaraj Panigrahi, D/o Sanskrit, Tripura University, Agartala; and Prof. T. Mrunalini, D/o Education, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
