SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded one of the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in months. According to health authorities, the State recorded 59 new infections and 126 people recovered from the virus. The State also recorded four more fatalities due to the virus.

Health authorities informed that East Khasi Hills district and West Khasi Hills district recorded two deaths each and all were not vaccinated. With the latest figures, the State now has 1,421 deaths, 1,152 active cases and 79,850 people have so far recovered from the virus. Of the 59 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 34, West Jaintia Hills district 10, West Khasi Hills district eight, Ri-Bhoi district six and North Garo Hills district one.
