Meghalaya registers 109 new COVID patients taking total tally to 1,220

SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Thursday saw a spike in COVID-19 cases recording 109 new cases taking the number of active ones to 1,220, informed Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War.

Of the 109 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded the most with 78 (armed and paramilitary forces: 10; civilians: 68); West Garo Hills: 15 (armed and paramilitary forces: eight; civilians: seven); Ri-Bhoi: 13; South Garo Hills: two; and West Jaintia Hills: one.

Dr War further informed that of the 1,220 active cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 833 cases (armed and paramilitary forces: 173; civilians: 660); West Garo Hills: 121 (armed and paramilitary forces: 75; civilians: 46); Ri-Bhoi: 84 (armed and paramilitary forces: eight; civilians: 76); East Garo Hills: 83; West Khasi Hills: 44; East Jaintia Hills: 23; South Garo Hills: 21 (armed and paramilitary forces: 11; civilians: 10); North Garo Hills: five; South West Garo Hills: three; and West Jaintia Hills: three.

Altogether 75 recoveries were recorded on Thursday. Of them, East Khasi Hills registered 58 (armed and paramilitary forces:38; civilians: 20); West Garo Hills: 12 (armed and paramilitary forces:11; civilians: one); North Garo Hills: four; and West Khasi Hills: one. The number of samples sent for testing till date are 93,817. While 90,516 samples tested negative, results of 675 are awaited.

A total of 33,009 people entered the State till the filing of the report.
