SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Monday registered 26 new COVID-19 cases and 113 recoveries. The total active cases now stands at 1,196. The State has so far recorded 1,162 recoveries.

East Khasi Hills recorded 14 new cases (all civilians), followed by West Garo Hills: five (four armed/paramilitary forces, and one civilian); East Jaintia Hills: four; one each from West Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, and South West Garo Hills, said State Health Minister AL Hek.

With 113 recoveries on Monday, Meghalaya saw a record number of recoveries in a single day. East Khasi Hills recorded 80 recoveries followed by 26 in West Garo Hills, three in East Jaintia Hills, and two each in Ri-Bhoiand North Garo Hills districts. Meanwhile, a total of 88, 963 samples have been sent for testing till date out of which, 85, 924 samples tested negative and the results of 671 samples are awaited even as a total of 32, 573 people have entered the State.
