SHILLONG: Meghalaya registered 27 new cases and also 12 recoveries during the last 24 hours, Health authorities informed. Of the 12 recoveries on Tuesday, East Khasi Hills reported 11 (one armed forces, BSF four and civilians six). The total recovered cases so far in the State are 510.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that of the 27 new cases on Tuesday, Ri-Bhoi recorded eight (all civilians); one from West Jaintia Hills; seven (all Border Security Force (BSF) personnel) from West Garo Hills; eight from East Khasi Hills. Of these, two are Central Reserve Police Force personnel, one armed force personnel, one BSF personnel and four civilians; one returnee in South West Khasi Hills and two returnees from North Garo Hills district.

The Director of Health Services also informed that the total number of active cases in the State now is 626 — East Khasi Hills: 425 ( BSF: 88, armed forces: 69 and civilians: 268); Ri-Bhoi: 93; West Garo Hills: 72; West Jaintia Hills: 16; East Jaintia Hills: six; West Khasi Hills: five; North Garo Hills: four; two each from South West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills; and one from South West Khasi Hills district.

Altogether 41,509 samples have been sent for testing till date. Of these, while 40,058 tested negative, results of 309 are being awaited. So far, 26,990 people have returned to the State.
