Meghalaya residents stranded in NE states can now return; Govt provides helpline no.

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya government has come up with helpline numbers for Meghalaya residents stranded in North Eastern states. They can now return, informed the state government.

Migrant worker scenario have caused a lot of concern within the country.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also asked his officials to draw up a plan to bring back all migrant workers from the state who are still stranded in other states.

Yogi Adityanath said that he wanted that the workers who are brought back to the state are provided employment here so that they do not have to return to other states in search of jobs.

The government spokesman said that Adityanath has already asked officials to start working towards creating employment opportunities for about 15 lakh people in the next six months and strengthen the economy.

In Assam, after a journey of over 1,900 kilometres, the 391 students from Assam who were stranded in Rajasthan’s Kota returned to Guwahati.

According to Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the students will remain under quarantine to ensure safety.

After reaching, the students were examined at Sarusajai quarantine centre. The boys have been kept at the Sarusajai quarantine centre and the girls in three city-based hotels. The police team which escorted the students from Kota has also been kept under quarantine at a hotel.
