TURA: Meghalaya has a new thrill for adventure seekers with the opening of its first sky cycling facility at the Tree House Resort near the scenic Burny Hills. Launched on Wednesday, this exciting attraction is the second of its kind in the Northeast, following a similar facility in Arunachal Pradesh.

Akim B. Sangma, assistant pastor of the Garo Baptist Church in Tura, inaugurated the sky cycling facility.

The Sky Cycling experience offers a remarkable aerial adventure, allowing riders to cycle along a high-tension metal cable suspended above the ground, all while taking in stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

This exciting cycling track stretches 80 meters and is securely anchored to a 50-foot-tall tower at the base station. Riders and their cycles are securely harnessed to the cable, ensuring a safe and exhilarating ride.

Nikman Ch Marak, Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, praised the Tree House Resort’s initiative, expressing confidence that the new attraction would boost tourism in Tura and its neighboring areas, thus benefiting the local economy.

The owner of Tree House Resort, JTK Marak, highlighted his commitment to diversifying the resort's recreational offerings. Plans for ziplining, rock climbing, and indoor sports facilities are underway, with the goal of not only attracting tourists but also engaging local youth and promoting healthy lifestyles.
