SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) has decided to hold a mass rally in Shillong on November 9, as a mark of protest against the state government's indifferent attitude towards the plight of over 12,000 SSA teachers in the state.

The president of the association -- Aristotle Rymbai said, "We have decided to intensify our agitation by organizing a mass rally on November 9." He added that the state government had turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the SSA teachers, which are protesting throughout the state.

''We not only demand the release of our pending salary but also for regularizing all SSA teachers in the state and also to implement the pay scales of the teachers according to the prescribed norms of the Right to Education (RTE),'' added Rymbai.

He informed that 12,541 SSA teachers for the last four months are facing many difficulties due to the non-release of their salary by the state government.

On the other hand, Rymbai informed that the MSSASA previously had met education minister Lahkmen Rymbui yet till date they have never received any positive response from his side which indicates that he as the head of the department is least bothered about the plight of the teachers.
