The Meghalaya state administration reviewed the state's current curfew on Friday, allowing 15% of public transportation to run in Shillong beginning June 28. 

The decision was made during a review meeting on Friday, which was presided over by chief minister Conrad Sangma. 

Drivers would also be required to disclose their immunization status and post the findings on their vehicles, according to reports. 

Tea shops will be allowed to open in rural areas, but customers will not be able to dine in any restaurant or café to avoid crowding. 

Provision kits with essential items will also be distributed to Covid positive patients residing at corona care centers. 

"Key decisions of the Govt. post the Covid Review Meeting today:

1. 15% of public transport (local taxis) will be allowed to operate in Shillong from 28th June 2021. Declaration of 'Vaccinated' or 'Non-Vaccinated' status of drivers will need to be displayed on the vehicles.

2. Tea shops in rural areas will be allowed to open. However, dine-in will not be allowed to avoid crowding. 

3. Provision Kits with essential items will also be provided to Covid positive patients staying in Corona Care Centres," announced the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Twitter. 

The lockdown in Meghalaya was meant to expire on June 21, but it has now been prolonged till further notice. 

Meanwhile, the state recorded 420 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with 10 additional COVID-induced fatalities, bringing the total death toll in the state to 807. 

A total of 298 people recovered from the deadly infectious viral disease, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 41,647. East Khali Hills has the most COVID-19 cases (126), followed by Ri-Bhoi (58), and West Jaintia Hills (54). 

Seven more fatalities have been reported in the East Khasi Hills region, two in the West Jaintia Hills district, and one in the East Garo Hills district. There are now 4,424 active cases in the state of Meghalaya.
