Meghalaya Strive To Keep Swaach Survekshan Grameen Target

Shillong: Meghalaya seems to have much in hand to complete the project under the Swaach Survekshan Grameen 2019 even as officials maintained that the mandatory ground works to ensure each and every household with a toilet will be completed with the stipulated time – September 15. According to the member Secretary of DSBM, A Lyngkhoi, there are around 35,000 households throughout the State that are without proper toilets, out of which 593 are located in the much developed district of East Khasi Hills district.

Elaborating on the households in the State, Lyngkhoi said that the initial introduction of the scheme was based on the basic line data of 2012 but household keeps on multiplying that hike the graph. Asked if it is humanly possible to carry out such an exercise in less than a month’s time, Lyngkhoi assisted by the other officials were apt in stating that they will complete the survey by September 15.

With an independent agency out to venture in 247 villages for inspection without informing the district administration on the implementation of the scheme, the district administrations are on the toes. Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district Matseiwdor War stated on Thursday, “We are in a mission mode to provide qualitative and quantitative execution of the initiative”.
