Meghalaya Tableau Depicts Success Story of Women-led SHG Movement & Cooperative Societies

Shillong: Meghalaya Tableau which participated in the Republic Day Parade was seen in full glory and highlighted 50 years of statehood.

Notably, the tableau was one of the main attractions of the event as it depicted the success story of the Women-led SHG Movement & Cooperative Societies in the state.

The tableau also depicted a woman weaving a bamboo basket and several bamboo products which have successfully gathered attention in recent times.

The rear part of the same highlighted the traditional farming and processing of Lakadong turmeric.

With the efforts of women-led cooperative societies and SHGs from Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, Lakadong turmeric has gathered global attention.

Apart from Meghalaya Tableau, the other tableaus were of Gujarat, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Jammu, And Kashmir, Chattishgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu's tableau, which was rejected by the expert committee, was displayed at the Republic Day Parade in Chennai.

Apart from these, the parade will include tableaux from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Textiles, Department of Post, and CRPF.
