SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles (MJACCV) on Saturday has decided to carry out a new agitation programme from Monday to protest the silence of the State government over their demand to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel.

It may be mentioned that for the past couple of weeks, commercial vehicles in the State have stayed away from the roads following the indefinite strike of MJACCV which has also created inconvenience to commuters in the city and across the State.

Speaking to reporters, president of MJACCV Wandonbok Jyrwa said, ''As the government has been ignoring our demand, we have taken a decision to call for a new agitation staring from February 15.'' He urged the public to support their agitation by not taking out vehicles or scooty; and instead stay away from the roads.
