Nongpoh: The Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) on Saturday announced its candidates for the upcoming MDC election, slated for next month, at a public gathering on Umsning’s bustling market day.
Five candidates were announced to contest from Ri Bhoi’s constituencies, with Apkyrmen Lyngdoh representing Jirang, Mathew Makdoh contesting from Nongpoh, Banrikus Nongsteng standing for Umsning, Kynjohlang Rangtong from Mawhati, and Isynei Hinge vying for the Umroi seat.
The announcement ceremony saw the participation of Dr. Ricky A.J. Syngkon, VPP General Secretary and Member of Parliament from Shillong, along with Bah Brightstar Marbaniang, MLA from Mawlai, and other notable party leaders from Ri Bhoi and across Meghalaya.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ricky A.J. Syngkon and Bah Brightstar Marbaniang urged the people of Ri Bhoi to rally behind the VPP candidates to initiate transformative changes in the region and beyond. They reiterated the party’s commitment to progress, underscoring the importance of public support in realizing the VPP’s vision for Meghalaya’s development.
Dr. Syngkon emphasized the need for a leadership shift, calling on citizens to empower the VPP to lead the state towards meaningful growth. He highlighted the party’s dedication to implementing policies aimed at fostering progress, while appealing to voters to trust the VPP with the responsibility of charting a new course for Meghalaya’s future.
